Tigersharks win Men’s 200 Medley Relay at opening day of NSISC Championships

CLEVELAND, Miss.- While only two different finals ran for the men’s division, the Tigersharks took advantage with a victory in the men’s 200 Medley Relay, as Ouachita competed well in the opening day of competition at the NSISC Conference Championships in Cleveland, Miss. on Wednesday.

Ouachita picked up a victory on the men’s side with the 200 Medley team of sophomore Jake McLain, senior Razvan Goga, freshman Carl Thomas and junior Kristian Krc with the time of 1:32.97. The Tigersharks finished just ahead of the teams of Missouri S&T and Henderson State that came in at 1:33.16.

On the women’s side, junior Megan Young finished third in the 1000 Free, coming in at 10:31.24, behind Delta State’s Maria Torres at 10:20.38.

In the women’s 200 Medley Relay, Ouachita finished fourth with the team of junior Ksenia Gromova, sophomore Svitlana Smirnova, senior Katie Patterson and freshman Rebecca Zandstra at 1:48.39. The Tigersharks were behind Henderson State at 1:46.19.

After the opening day of action, Ouachita sits in third place in the women’s division and fifth in the men’s division. Delta State leads all teams on the women’s side with 92 points, while Truman State (79) and Ouachita (70) follow. On the men’s side, Missouri S&T leads early action with 95 points, followed by Drury (72), Delta State (67), Truman State (67) and Ouachita (65).
