U.S. Navy Band to perform on February 25

The United States Navy Band from Washington, D.C. will present a free concert at Ouachita Baptist University’s Jones Performing Arts Center on Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m.

Under the baton of Captain George N. Thompson, the band will present a variety of popular and classical favorites. Members of several local high school bands will join the Navy Band on stage to perform John Philip Sousa’s “Washington Post March.”

This special performance by the Navy’s premier musical organiza­tion is part of the Navy Band’s national tour. The band performs frequently at the White House and the U.S. Capitol Building, and has participated in 19 presidential inaugurals.

The concert is free, but tickets are required. Free general admission tickets are available by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: The U. S. Navy Band Concert, Craig Hamilton, OBU Box 3649, Arkadelphia, AR 71998.

Tickets may also be picked up beginning Feb. 9 at the Ouachita band office in Mabee Fine Arts Center, Room 217.
