OBU men’s soccer edged by Christian Brothers

The Ouachita Baptist University men’s soccer team couldn’t overcome a pair of penalty kicks in the second half as Christian Brothers defeated the Tigers, 2-1, Tuesday afternoon in a Gulf South Conference match at the OBU Soccer Complex.

After playing to a scoreless first half, both teams found the back of the net on penalty kicks.

Clark Bradford struck home the game’s first goal in the 54th minute to give Christian Brothers a 1-0 lead. Four minutes later, Alex Tonrey banged home the equalizer for the Tigers (2-6-1 overall, 0-4-1), tying the contest at 1.

Bradford added his second goal on a penalty kick in the 71st minute to give the Buccaneers a 2-1 lead.

Neal Ozmun recorded eight saves in goal for Ouachita, while Daniel Foster had four for the Buccaneers (8-5-1, 3-1).

Ouachita takes on 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 26 against Rust College at the OBU Soccer Complex. The Tigers will have Senior Day, Tuesday, Oct. 28 against Central Baptist.
