OBU volleyball falls to UAM

The Ouachita Baptist University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 Gulf South Conference West Division match Thursday night to Arkansas-Monticello at the Sturgis Center.

The Cotton Blossoms (17-14 overall, 3-5 GSC West) won the match with scores of 25-18, 25-20, 25-20.

Kaitlyn Mitcham led Ouachita’s offense with 10 kills, while Lexie Hegi added 25 assists and eight digs. Raichel Settle finished with 14 digs and Stephanie Carrell chipped in with 11.

Jalynn Thornton and Mallory Storm each recorded 10 kills and Maegan Martin finished with 35 assists to pace the Arkansas-Monticello offense. MacKenzie Willis chipped in with 12 digs.

Ouachita (7-21, 2-7) travels Friday, Oct. 24 to Sherman, Texas to take on Austin College at 6 p.m., and Paul Quinn at 8 p.m., in the Austin College Volleyball Invitational. The Lady Tigers conclude the tournament with matches against Southwestern and Ripon on Saturday.
