OBU baseball releases 2009 schedule

October 30, 2008

Coming off the heels of an NCAA Division II National Runner-ups, Ouachita Baptist University baseball coach Chris Moddelmog announced the release of the upcoming 2009 schedule.

The Tigers, who set a school-record 51 wins last season and won the South Central Regional Baseball Championship for the first time in school history, will play at the confines of Rab Rodgers Field 28 times.

“We have put together a very competitive schedule that will test our club every time out this spring,” Moddelmog said. “We have some very tough games early in the year that will be a good measuring stick for our program and get us ready for conference play.”

Ouachita opens the season against another top opponent at Angelo State Feb. 2-3. The Tigers opened last season against St. Edward’s and the trip to Angelo State will just be the start of a very difficult non-conference schedule.

After the trip to Angelo State, Ouachita opens the home portion of the schedule Feb. 7 with a doubleheader against Missouri Western.

The Tigers will meet three Gulf South Conference East Division opponents – West Alabama, Montevallo and North Alabama.

Ouachita has four home Gulf South Conference West Division series’ – Delta State, Henderson State, Arkansas Tech and Christian Brothers. The Tigers will take to the road against Harding, Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Arkansas.
