The Ouachita Baptist University women’s basketball team opened the season by giving head coach Garry Crowder his 200th school victory Tuesday night as the Lady Tigers routed Central Baptist, 111-51, at Bill Vining Arena.
Ouachita (1-0), which led 60-21 at the half, trailed just once at 2-0, but the Lady Tigers used a 14-2 run as Maranda Parker scored on a 3-pointer with 15:53 remaining in the opening half to give Ouachita a 14-4 lead.
The Lady Tigers pushed the margin to 31-9 after a 3-pointer by Alyssa Pickett with 11:54 left and Ouachita continued to put points on the board, taking a 46-15 advantage after a Kim Beverly layup with 5:05 remaining in the half.
Ouachita, which was 19-of-37 in the opening half, dominated the first half by scoring 20 points in the paint and capitalized off 23 Lady Mustang turnovers by scoring 38 points. The Lady Tiger bench play also was huge with 35 points.
The Lady Tigers had four players in double figures. Tamara Robinson paced Ouachita with 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting. Gabby Coleman recorded 14 points and Beulah Osueke recorded 13. Adams finished with 12 points.
Karli Kenley led Central Baptist (2-4) with 11 points, while Megan Flanagan and DeAnna Reeves chipped in with 10 each.
Ouachita was 38-of-76 from the field and 24-of-32 from the free-throw line.
The Lady Tigers hit the road for a 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 22 contest against Gulf South Conference East Division foe Montevallo.
