While trying to find out her passions and what she is going to do with her life, Claire Anderson places her trust in God.
For now, Claire is a mass communications major with an unknown future. She has many passions and great relationships with people of many backgrounds, and is continuing to trust in God’s guidance for her life.
Claire’s parents, Mike and Marilyn, went to the mission field in the Philippines when Claire was 9 months old and were there for 10 years.
Claire’s dad Mike said “she grew up in a mixed culture in the Philippines with many other missionaries who she called her aunts and uncles,” where she was able to learn and be familiarized with many different cultures. Her dad also explained, “She went to a school with missionary kids from all over the world in the Philippines, where she was able to learn through these children of their different cultures.”
With this experience behind her, Claire has been able to speak and relate with many different types of people. This has allowed Claire to have a great heart for people.
“Missions have always been in the back of my mind, as well as going back to the Philippines to be a missionary,” said Claire, “but God likes to mix things up. I have found that when I place my trust in God, he shows me the right direction at that time, so for now I am placing my trust in God and will seek him through my passions”
Through her trust in God and her positive attitude Claire has been an encouragement to her family and friends.
“She’s genuine and a very sweet person, and does not act fake so people will like her,” said her friend and roommate Emma Smith. “She is very encouraging and when any of her friends call her at any random time, no matter what she is doing, she will stop and give them encouragement.”
Claire’s genuine attitude has an immediate effect on people and allows her to take friendships past just being acquaintances.
“She’s always there for me. I think if I was hanging from a cliff about to die, she’d be the first person I’d call for help,” said her friend Aspen Grams, clearly animating their friendship.
Claire’s mom is sure that whatever she becomes, “Claire will be able to face the challenges that are ahead of her because of how well rounded and accepting of people she is. She loves to travel and I feel that she will certainly influence the world for the better.”
