OBU’s Pruitt selected First-Team All-Super Region 2

December 2, 2008

Ouachita Baptist University senior wide receiver Julius Pruitt was named Tuesday to the 2008 Daktronics All-Super Region 2 First Team.

Pruitt, who scored a touchdown over the weekend at the East Coast Bowl, was named to the first team and has an opportunity to be selected NCAA Division II All-American.

The senior wide receiver owns nearly every receiving record at Ouachita.

Pruitt, a native of Newport, Ark., set a school record and career record in his final collegiate game against rival Henderson State with 250 receiving yards on 10 catches in a 43-36 victory. He finished the season with 77 catches for 1,116 yards and 11 touchdowns, while averaging 111.6 yards per game.

He ranks just second all-time in receiving yards in a career with 2,406. Only Doug Freeze’s mark of 2,453 is better. Pruitt, who was an All-Gulf South Conference Second Team player last season and named first team this season, set a school record this past season in receptions with 171 and holds the single-season mark with 77. He is also second in all-time career touchdowns among receivers at OBU. Freeze holds the mark with 26, while Pruitt finished his four-year career with 24.
