Ouachita Baptist University officials have announced a new scholarship opportunity for seniors at Hazen High School. The university plans to award five full scholarships to attend Ouachita for students who are in Hazen High’s class of 2009.
The scholarships are available through the Bill and Sharon Arnold Family Foundation. The awards will provide funding, up to the full cost for tuition, fees, room and board and will be awarded on a competitive basis to students who apply for admission to Ouachita.
According to Curtis Arnold, who serves as the trustee of the Arnold Family Foundation, “The Bill and Sharon Arnold Family Foundation is excited about supporting graduates of Hazen High School who are interested in pursuing their college education at Ouachita. We firmly believe that Ouachita is one of the best liberal arts schools in the country.
“At the same time, we strongly believe that students from the Hazen and DeValls Bluff area who are interested in OBU shouldn’t let financial concerns stop them from pursuing their dreams,” Arnold added.
Keisha Pittman, director of admissions counseling at Ouachita, noted, “We are delighted to be able to offer this scholarship opportunity to the students of Hazen High School. We hope that students will apply soon to be considered for these awards.”
Pittman said that students interested in applying for the Bill and Sharon Arnold Family Foundation Scholarships should visit Ouachita’s Web site at www.obu.edu and click “Apply Online” in order to fill out the university’s application for admission and financial aid. Transcripts, ACT scores and a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be required to complete the application process.
