Women’s tennis drops pair of matches

The Ouachita Baptist University women’s tennis team dropped a pair of matches Friday, falling 9-0 to Northeastern Oklahoma State and 7-2 to Drury at the Heflin Tennis Center.

Against Northeastern State in doubles action, the team of Natalia Drada and Tavu Fa fell to Zuzanna Osinska and Karolina Cichon, 8-0, while Mariana Divardin and Katie Potts dropped an 8-6 decision to Michaela Romanova and Claire Chanay, 8-6. In No. 3 doubles, Thoko Zulu and Megan Ruggles lost to Emina Spirtovic and Alicja Augustynska, 8-0.

In singles action, Divardin lost to Osinska, 6-2, 6-3 and Drada fell to Cichon, 6-2, 6-3. Fa and Potts were beaten by Spirtovic and Romanova, respectively, 6-3, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0. Zulu was blanked by Agata Skorupska, 6-0, 6-0 and Ruggles lost to Valerie McKinney, 6-1, 6-0.

Against Drury, Ouachita went 1-2 in doubles action as Drada and Fa beat Kaha Bon and Chandra Capozzi, 9-7. Divardin and Potts fell to Alba Passanisi and Khrystsina Tryboi, 8-4 and Zulu and Ruggles lost to Lindsey Castrodale and Anna Lustig, 8-0.

The lone singles win came at No. 3 as Fa beat Passanisi, 6-3, 7-5. Divardin lost to Capozzi, 7-5, 6-3 and Drada fell to Bon, 6-1, 6-1. Zulu lost to Castrodale, 6-0, 6-1 and Ruggles fell to Lustig, 6-2, 6-0.

Ouachita returns to Gulf South Conference West Division action 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Heflin Tennis Center against Delta State.
