OBU Swimming fifth after third round at Championships

HOUSTON, Texas – The Ouachita Baptist University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are fifth after the third round of the NCAA Division II National Championships Friday at the CRWC Natatorium.


Drury leads the women’s field with 417 points. Wayne State is second with 343, while UC San Diego is third with 318. Truman State (249.5) is fourth, while Ouachita is fifth with 179. In the men’s field, Wayne State is first with 404. Drury is second with 368 and Missouri S&T third with 216. Limestone is fourth with 206.5, while Ouachita is fifth with 197.

In the women’s 100 Back, Sarah Watson took fifth in 56.03, while in men’s event, Radu Badalac set a school record by placing first in 48.08. Nelson Silva was fifth in 48.75.

In the women’s 100 Breast, Jenny Christensen set a school record by finishing seventh in 1:04.04. In the men’s event, Hal Eubanks also set a school record in 54.52 and took third. In the consolation finals, Razvan Goga was 10th in 56.18.

In the women’s 200 Fly, Ksenia Gromova took seventh and set a school record in 2:03.70.

The women’s 800 Relay of Megan Young, Katie Patterson, Brittany Norton and Watson set a school record in 7:33.26, while taking ninth. The men’s team of Silva, Will Wood, Vicente Condorelli and Austin Teague took 16th in 6:55.09.

The NCAA Division II Championships conclude Saturday, March 15 in Houston, Texas.
