Coffeehouse will feature Andrew Osenga, Nick Flora

September 21, 2008

Returning to the bubble from our homes throughout the U.S. and even the globe,  we begin to notice changes on campus. From the addition of Coke products and new high-tech card swiping vending machines to late-night hours for Chick-fil-a, Ouachita has seriously stepped up its game.

Along with these changes, CAB has decided to promote better entertainment for students with “Coffeehouse” events.

“We wanted to give students a unique activity on campus centered around music based on local talent and artists,” said CAB music executive Madison O’Connor.  “Originally, the cab coffeehouse was an event for WOW [Welcome to Ouachita’s World] to provide entertainment after Tigers and Torches.”

CAB’s goal for the Coffeehouse is to give students more choice for fun activities that don’t involve going out of town.

“Coffeehouse will give students more chances to come to an ambient atmosphere to do their homework,” said CAB president Molly Throgmorton. “Other activities will be provided as well, like board games and drawing supplies.”.

Coffeehouse will start Wednesday Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. in the commons. Admission is $1, which includes free coffee. Hot chocolate, cookies and other snacks will also be provided.

“To kick off Coffeehouse, we’re bringing in Andrew Osenga of Caedmon’s Call and Ouachita alumnus Nick Flora,” said Shelbourne.  “In the future, we will be holding some form of auditions for performance opportunities.”

If you are looking for an inexpensive entertainment option, stop by next Wednesday night and listen to some great music.
