Caddo Valley, AR  September 18, 2008 – Special events, activities and promotions at Crystal Palace Skate Center in Caddo Valley will highlight National Roller Skating month for 2008.  This October, the Roller Skating Association International (RSA), along with skating center owners across the country and around the world, is working to introduce new kids to the sport and recapture adults who have fond memories of skating as children.

Recent research shows that nearly 40 million people in the United States roller skate. Skating centers now offer a broad range of entertainment options that appeal to all ages. Families and teens recognize skating as a fun and healthy activity.

Crystal Palace Skate Center located at 102 Crystal Palace Drive in Caddo Valley, Arkansas has been providing the community with safe and supervised indoor roller skating since October 3, 2007, and is celebrating its one year anniversary next month.

“Roller skating has been a popular activity for decades, and with the additional exposure the sport has received recently, we’re seeing more and more people returning to the roller skating centers they once enjoyed,” said George Babineau, managing director of Arkansas Skate Univerisity.  “Now they’re bringing their children and grandchildren with them, too.”

Crystal Palace Skate Center will celebrate National Roller Skating month by offering a variety of promotions, specials, discount pricing and events throughout the month with national sponsors like Pepsi, Nickelodeon and the Roller Skating Association. For a listing of all Crystal Palace Skate Centers National Roller Skating month activities, visit www.crystalpalaceskatecenter.com.

In addition, customers visiting Crystal Palace Skate Center in October can “Roll in, Roll out and Roll on” with the Pepsi scratch and win promotion. Great prizes are offered including bikes, roller skates, backpacks, MP3 players, and of course free Pepsi and free roller skating passes.

Leading into National Roller Skating month, Crystal Palace Skate Center will also participate in the “Let’s Just Play Go Healthy Challenge,” a national campaign sponsored by Nickelodeon and the American Heart Association.

On Tuesday, Sept. 30, Crystal Palace Skate Center will participate in Nickelodeons Worldwide Day of Play by offering a “Let’s Just Play” skate from 6-8 p.m. No one likes to skate alone, so Crystal Palace Skate Center will offer a special 2 for 1 admission of $5 each, including rental skates if you needed.

Studies have shown that roller skating provides a complete aerobic workout and involves all of the body’s muscles, especially the heart.  Just one hour of moderate roller skating burns 330 calories for a 143-pound person.
