Lambuth overpowers Ouachita for a 91-70 victory in the first round of the UAM Classic

MONTICELLO- Ouachita Bapitst led 38-37 at half, but couldn’t keep up with Lambuth in the second half, falling 91-70 in the first round of the UAM Classic at Monticello, Ark on Friday.

Ouachita (4-2) improved their shooting percentage from the first half (33 percent) to the second half (41 percent), but Lambuth scored 54 second half points to pull away from the Lady Tigers.

Junior Gabby Coleman led the Lady Tigers in scoring for a second-straight game, scoring 19 points, while sophomore Tamara Robinson also added 19 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore A’Laeshia Adams scored eight points and three rebounds, while sophomore Beulah Oseuke added six points and eight rebounds for Ouachita.

Lambuth forced Ouachita into 22 turnovers, while also holding the edge in rebounds, 40-38. Lambuth’s LaTonya McKinney narrowly missed recording a triple-double with 21 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists, while teammate Jenee Webb led the squad with 22 points in the victory.

Ouachita Baptist returns to the court on Saturday at 12 p.m. to face St. Mary’s in the second round of the UAM Classic in Monticello.
