‘Tell All’ gets positive feedback, plans to holds second event

April 15, 2010

Last month’s “The Women Tell All” event was an opportunity for Ouachita women to share their personal struggles and hear practical advice on how to deal with them.

After evaluating the positive response to the first panel event, there will be another panel event Monday, April 19 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in Walker Conference Center. This event will aim not only to continue the discussion of previous issues but to address issues that may have been missed during the first event.

“Our first event was so well received and attended that we realized we needed to schedule a follow-up session soon to target the many questions students submitted that we didn’t have time to address,” said Dan Jarboe, university counselor. “This second event will be more fully devoted to group dialogue between the panelists and the audience.”

A new panel will be introduced including Nancy Harrell, Katelyn Cash, Becca Woodall, Julielle Vaught and Emily Jackson.

Feedback gathered after the last panel event indicated a need to talk more about issues such as depression, relationships with guys, self acceptance, singleness, lust and sexual victimization.

“The attendance and participation at the first panel discussion was wonderful,” said Becca Woodall, panel member and campus activities assistant. “For the survey that was sent out afterward, there were multiple requests for similar events. Also, the first discussion ended with several unanswered questions. At the next event, those questions will be addressed.”

Ouachita women are encouraged to attend this second event in order to continue a healthy and ongoing discussion of these issues.
