ARKADELPHIA- In a close matchup, it was Christian Brothers’ ability to finish on a pair of attacks in the second half that made the difference in a 2-1 Gulf South Conference victory over Ouachita Baptist in men’s soccer action on Saturday in Arkadelphia.
Ouachita (8-5-1, 2-2 GSC) trailed just a minute into the second half when Christian Brothers’(4-8-1, 1-2 GSC) Yannick Skull finished with a header on a cross assist from teammate Gideon Leteyian for a 1-0 lead.
The Tigers got on the board at 54:54 when freshman Justin Lowry finished sophomore Jason Cantwell’s low cross from the left to tie the match at 1-1.
At 63:13, Christian Brothers recorded the go-ahead score when Leteyian knocked a goal into the upper right portion of the net on an assist from Ebai Ayuk for the 2-1 victory.
Ouachita freshman keeper Grayson Townsend recorded a season-high eight saves in 90 minutes of work. Christian Brothers outshot Ouachita 17-7, while the Bucs also had the largest amount of fouls, 16-10.
The Tigers return to action in Arkadelphia against Central Baptist College on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 3 p.m.
