ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Chelsy Lewis, a junior at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, was crowned Miss Arkansas Collegiate Oct. 16. She will represent Arkansas at the Miss Collegiate America Pageant January 6-8, 2011, in San Antonio, Texas.
The Miss Collegiate America Pageant is designed to promote scholastic achievement, school involvement and community involvement among participants.
Lewis, daughter of Mike and Sherry Lewis of Benton, represented Ouachita and competed against contestants representing colleges and universities from throughout Arkansas. She is a junior at Ouachita where she is majoring in communication sciences and disorders and plans to be a speech pathologist.
Lewis is a cheerleader for the Ouachita Tigers, serving as captain for the 2009-2010 season. She is a member of the Chi Delta women’s social club and the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association, a pre-professional association for students studying communication sciences and disorders.
Lewis was crowned Miss Saline County Fair Queen in 2007 and also was named Miss South Central Arkansas Outstanding Teen. She was nominated for Ouachitonian Beauty and OBU Homecoming Court in 2009.
Lewis also participates in Tiger Serve Day and has volunteered for Miracle League of Arkansas, Boys and Girls Club, Tigers for a Cure, Race for the Cure and Courage House activities. She is a member of Holland Chapel Baptist Church in Benton, and has participated in two mission trips during the past two years.
