Josiah Wheeler to present junior voice recital Nov. 19

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will present Josiah Wheeler, a junior choral music education major from Jacksonville, Ark., in his junior voice recital Friday, Nov. 19, at 11 a.m. in Mabee Fine Arts Center’s McBeth Recital Hall.

Wheeler has performed in Ouachita’s productions of Once Upon a Mattress, Seussical and Don Giovanni. He has been a member of Ouachita Singers and Covenant and was named to American Choral Directors Association Collegiate Honors Choir two years.

Wheeler will open the recital with Henry Purcell’s “I’ll Sail Upon the Dog Star,” followed by John Duke’s “Luke Havergal” and Gabriel Fauré’s “Aurore.” He will then perform Camille Saint-Säens’ “L’Attente,” Gaetano Donizetti’s “Bella siccome un angelo” from Don Pasquale and “O du mein holder Abendstern” from Richard Wagner’s Tannhäuser. Wheeler will conclude with Deems Taylor’s “Captain Stratton’s Fancy” and Lionel Bart’s “My Name.” Linda Thompson will accompany Wheeler on piano.
