OBU women’s soccer blanked by Montevallo

The Ouachita Baptist women’s soccer team dropped its fourth straight match Sunday, falling 6-0 to Montevallo in a Gulf South Conference game at the OBU Soccer Complex.The Lady Falcons (5-3-1 overall, 2-0-1 GSC) broke the scoreless tie in the 6th minute as Brittany Correia scored off an assist by Hayley Gant. Just two minutes later Kami Kapaku made it 2-0 with a goal off assists by Gant and Stacey Balaam.

Balaam scored on an unassisted goal on a free kick just outside the penalty area in the 35th minute to give Montevallo a 3-0 lead. The Lady Falcons ended the half with goals from Kapaku and Angela Buonassisi to take a 5-0 lead into the break.

Montevallo added one more goal as Kapaku picked up the hat trick by scoring in the 64th minute.

Ouachita goalkeeper Megan Ruggles played 78 minutes in goal, recording six saves. Sarah Glenn didn’t have a save in the final 12 minutes. Montevallo goalkeeper Corey Gros wasn’t tested all game and didn’t record a save.

The Lady Tigers (1-4, 0-4) travel 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 10 to West Georgia and then play 1:00 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 12 at Delta State.
