OBU men’s Soccer toppled by Belhaven

Neal Ozmun recorded eight saves but it wasn’t enough as the Ouachita Baptist University men’s soccer team dropped a 6-0 contest Wednesday afternoon to Belhaven College in a nonconference match at The Bowl.

The Warriors (12-0-1) scored five goals in the first half and added one in the second for the victory.

Juan Rodriguez gave Belhaven a 1-0 lead with a goal off an assist by Alan Hannon in the 14th minute. Four minutes later, Kevin Wittmann scored off a rebound, with Hannon receiving the assist. Rodriguez scored his second goal in the 22nd minute off Hannon’s third assist to give the Warriors a 3-0 lead. Mabior Yai and Curtis Young scored goals to give Belhaven a 5-0 lead at the half. Yai added a goal in the second half.

Ozmun played all 90 minutes in goal for Ouachita (2-5-1). Three goalkeepers split time for Belhaven. William Wolfe had one save in 10 minutes of action. Kriton Vogel and Zach Wallace didn’t record a save.

The Tigers return to Gulf South Conference action 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21 against Christian Brothers at the OBU Soccer Complex.
