CAB event to feature sweater contest

December 5, 2008

Campus Activities Board’s annual Christmas party is quickly approaching. The event will be on Monday, Dec. 8 from 7-9 p.m. in Evans Student Center. Students, faculty and staff will not want to miss out on all of the food, crafts and contests  that CAB has prepared for this year.

This is the second year of CAB’s “cheesy sweater contest.” Students are invited to wear their “best” Christmas sweater in hopes of winning a prize.

“The sweater contest will definitely be a big hit, as it was last year,” said CAB Special Events President Will Hunsucker. “It’s who’s got the best Christmas sweater and usually who’s got the most gaudy Christmas sweater.”

It’s tough competition to have the most gaudy sweater.

Hunsucker said the best ones last year had “the most bells, the most trinkets and light up.”

The window decorating competition is also being brought back this year. Campus clubs and organizations compete to have the best decorated window in Evans Student Center.

“The window decorating contest will be the big one between different clubs and organizations,” said CAB Special Events Vice President Ana Cameron.

It is a big deal to the clubs, and they go all out to show off their Christmas spirit in a fun and creative way.

Christmas smörgasbord of treats will be served at the event. Christmas cookies, hot chocolate and make your own candy and popcorn bags are just some of the planned goodies.

Christmas games and crafts will take place throughout the night, and artists will be set up to draw caricatures. Students, faculty and staff will also get the opportunity to win a cake in the cake walk.

CAB has been working to make this Christmas party the best one yet. Solo artists Wes Hymer and Lucas Hawthorne are going to perform, and Santa is going to make an appearance.

This event is not the only one CAB has been putting together for next week. They are also showing “A Christmas Story” Sunday, Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. at the Walker Conference Center.
