El Shaddai, God Almighty, He is all around. The Holiest of Holies, the Alpha and the Omega. He finds favor with you. In His loving kindness He chose you.
Reread this statement with intent. Consider the implications of this truth. How might your life look different if you truly believed that statement? Reflect momentarily.
Do you allow your heart to slow in order to pick up on His divine promptings? His omnipresence? Are your ears attuned to His voice, your heart attuned to devotion, and your mind attuned to faith as today’s shortcomings unfold?
Look for Him, He’s all around you, sweet child of grace. He’s in the fall leaves; in the still mornings. Can you notice your Father’s precious craft in the person sitting next to you in class, can you notice His touch in the gentle winds, or His permeating presence in the downfall of rain? Creation is a reflection of His invisible qualities, of the unseen Father. How kind is He to show himself to His beloved through His artwork. We have tangible images and reminders of who God is, who our Father is. Creation proclaims His greatness.
“The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world.” Psalm 19:1-4
Oh child of the Most High, can’t you see your Father’s gentle gaze. His kind smile. Psalm 18:19 says “he rescued me because he delights in me.” The God of the Universe, the One who thoughtfully wrote the script of time, and stretched space finds delight in you.
Insecurity, pain, doubt, sufferings, how insignificant these troubles become in light of the One who is and is to come, the One who endures forever.
As the old hymn sings:
“Turn your eyes upon Jesus.
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace.”
Allow me to offer a short prayer:
Father, how great you are. How vast is your goodness. How incomprehensible your love!
I come to you as a child. A dependent child. A child in dire need of their Father’s touch.
I am so weak, so poor in spirit. Have mercy on me. I long to dwell wherever you are.
How I can’t wait for the day I see you. The day you call me home. The day my soul will be satisfied
But for now allow me to do your work here on earth with diligence. Allow me to sit here at your feet
My heart longs for you. My soul thirsts for you
Grant me eyes to see You in all I do today. To quench the thirst in me for your righteousness
Father, I am your child. I passionately long to be by your side
