At the midway point of the 2009 season, the Ouachita Baptist women’s soccer team currently ranks among the nations best in one statistical category: goals-per-game.

The Lady Tigers led the nation in scoring offense with 6.40 goals per game, including a 15-0 victory over Dallas Christian, 6-0 win against Louisiana College and 8-1 victory over the University of Ozarks.

Sophomore Beth Wendl set a new school record in goals per game on Sept. 3 against Louisiana College, with a four-goal performance. The Plano, Texas native scored two goals in each half, as the Lady Tigers won easily against their non-conference opponent. Wendl currently leads the squad with eight goals and 17 points, after scoring two goals her freshman season. Wendl leads the Gulf South Conference leaderboard with 1.6 Goal-per-game, while also ranking fifth in Point-per-game with 3.4.

Freshman Taylor Gay also set a new school record in assists per game, with a three-assist performance against Dallas Christian on Aug. 29. Freshman Sarah McKimmey is currently fifth among all GSC athletes in Assists-per-game with .8 per game.

The Lady Tigers led the GSC in four season-high team categories: points (44), goals (15), assists (14) and shots (41).
