OBU Baseball takes tumble in latest rankings

ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University baseball team continued its slide in the recent rankings Monday as the Tigers fell to No. 30 in the NCAA Division II College Baseball Newspaper Poll and to No. 7 in the Ping!Baseball Rankings.


The Tigers (18-8) slipped 12 spots from No. 18 to No. 30 in the College Baseball Poll. Cal State Stanislaus remains in the top spot with a 16-3 mark and Southern Arkansas is No. 2 with an 18-5 record. Behind the Muleriders are Grand Valley State, Mesa State and Abilene Christian.

Alabama-Huntsville (17-3) entered the rankings 14th, as well as Henderson State (22-4) at No. 20. North Alabama (18-6) is No. 22 to round out the GSC schools.

Also on Monday, the first NCBWA Division II South Region Poll was releases as the Tigers are tied for fourth with Nova Southeastern. Southern Arkansas is in the top spot, followed by Florida Southern and Barry. Behind the Tigers are North Alabama, Lynn, Henderson State, UAH and Tampa.

Ouachita returns to action 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 10 at Rab Rodgers Field against East Central. The Tigers will conclude the final inning and complete the game which was played Feb. 17. The two teams will then play a pair of seven-inning games. The doubleheader can be heard on the Ouachita Baptist University Athletic Web site at: www.obutigers.com.
