OBU volleyball falls to Southern Arkansas

Kaitlyn Mitcham had 10 kills and hit .444 but it wasn’t enough as the Ouachita Baptist volleyball team was swept by Southern Arkansas, 3-0, Thursday night in a Gulf South Conference West Division match at the W.T. Watson Athletic Center.

Southern Arkansas (9-12 overall, 2-4 GSC West) won the match with scores of 25-23, 26-24, 25-20.

Libby Merritt and Meredith Henry added seven kills with Lexie Hegi chipping in with 30 assists. Defensively, Lauren Stuart and Raichel Settle recorded 19 and 10 digs, respectively.

Sarah Bell and Danielle Sneed paced Southern Arkansas with 16 and 13 kills, while Maggie Ross finished with 11. Michaela Scroggins added a match-high 48 assists. Mallory McKee had 19 digs and Sneed finished off the double-double with 12 digs.

Ouachita (5-17, 1-4) will take on 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 11 St. Leo in a non-conference match at the Sturgis Center.
