OBU volleyball picked to finish seventh in the GSC

The Ouachita Baptist volleyball team was chosen seventh Wednesday in the Gulf South Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
The Lady Tigers, who went 14-23 last season, received 12 votes. Harding, which earned 34 total votes, was selected to win the Gulf South Conference West Division. Arkansas Tech (31) and Henderson State (28) were tabbed second and third, respectively. Being the Lady Reddies were Arkansas-Monticello (16), Christian Brothers (13) and Southern Arkansas (13).

Libby Merritt (FR, Conway, Ark.) and Lexie Hegi (FR, Fort Worth, Texas) were selected as Gulf South Conference Top Newcomers.

Ouachita Baptist opens the season Aug. 29-30 in Pensacola, Fla., at the West Florida Comfort Inn Invitational. The Lady Tigers will play Florida Tech, West Alabama, St. Joseph’s and UNC Pembroke at the tournament.
