Ouachita’s Elrod Center hosts Volunteer Service Fair Sept. 8

September 3, 2009

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Ouachita Baptist University’s Ben M. Elrod Center for Family and Community will host the Volunteer Service Fair Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Evans Student Center on Ouachita’s campus.

“One of the three words on the Ouachita Baptist University seal is ‘service,’” said Judy Duvall, assistant director of the Elrod Center. “Indeed, service is very much a part of who we are as Ouachitonians.”

The Elrod Center was established in 1997 and the service fair began shortly after. The fair will present various opportunities that students have to serve on campus and in the community with organizations such as American Red Cross, Arkadelphia Human Development Center, Humane Society and Young Life.

“A majority of OBU students, and many faculty and staff give of their time each week to make the lives of others better,” Duvall concluded. “We want to give our students every opportunity to be involved.”
