Ouachita Tiger Baseball Captures Midweek Victory with Walk-off Double

April 11, 2012

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- Following an hour delay due to lightning in the area, the Ouachita Tigers (20-19) downed the Boll Weevils of the University of Arkansas-Monticello (15-22) in a mid-week contest on a double by Clayton Brandt in the eleventh inning, scoring Duncan Collins from second base. The Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to send the game to extra innings, practically stealing the game from Monticello.

Ouachita’s Zac Treece took the victory after coming in and throwing 3.2 innings of relief pitching, recording four strikeouts while giving up two runs. Christian Gallegos took the loss for the Boll Weevils. Gallegos, who started the game at shortstop, pitched 2.2 innings of relief, giving up four hits and a single run, which just happened to be the game-winning run in the eleventh inning.

Brock Green and Clayton Brandt both recorded two runs batted in during the game, while Jace Melby, Matt Balogh and Landon Flax all added RBI’s of their own. Keegan Ghidotti and Green both finished the game with a triple to their credit, both of which were hit to deep right field, while McCrae Jones, Brandt and Collins all recorded doubles in the game.

Ouachita returns to the diamond on Saturday, when they travel to Ada, Oklahoma for a conference series with the Tigers of East Central University. Games will begin at noon.
