Softball Falls to Southeastern in Tough Pair of Games

April 15, 2013

A series opening doubleheader in Durant didn’t quite go the way that the Ouachita Lady Tigers would have liked, as they ended up falling to the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Savage Storm by scores of 7-6 and 5-1.

The first game of the afternoon found the Lady Tigers in a nine-inning marathon, which they ended up dropping by a final score of 7-6.

Southeastern scored in the first inning with a sacrifice fly, taking an early 1-0 lead. Ouachita bounced back and answered in the fourth with three runs, including a 2 RBI double from Parrish Reed.

Courtney Riddle homered to left field for a two run shot, tying the game at three.

Neither team was able to score again until the ninth, when the Lady Tigers reeled off three runs in the top of the inning, but unfortunately Southeastern was just a bit better, posting four runs and taking the 7-6 win.

In the second game of the day, Southeastern got an early lead, posting four runs in the top of the first and giving themselves a bit of a cushion to start things off.

Southeastern continued to add to their lead in the third, when a single up the middle scored a runner from third base and put the Lady Tigers at a 5-0 disadvantage.

The Lady Tigers got a run on the board in the top of the seventh, when Bailey Sanders recorded a solo home run, but the scoring stopped there, as they ended up falling by a score of 5-1.

The Lady Tigers and Savage Storm return to action on Saturday, when they face off in Durant beginning at 1 p.m.
