For those of you who know the man and those of you who have yet to get to know him here is an opportunity to do so…

Ouachita Baptist University’s Hammons Gallery announces a photography show under the title “Where Color, Light and Shadows Meet: A Photographic Journal of Venice, Bride of the Sea.”

The fifty 8×10 color photographs were taken by Raouf J. Halaby, OBU Professor of English and Art, during the summers of 2009 and 2010 and depict a combination of canal and architectural scenes. “Venice is one of the most historically rich and perhaps the most romantic city in the world,” said Halaby. “Every waterway is a tantalizing interplay between water, bridges, gondolas and architecture whose ocher, terra cotta, and pastels weave lasting tapestries rich in color and shadows.”

The show opens on Monday, February 21, 2011, and will run through March 8, 2011. A reception will be held in the gallery on Wednesday afternoon, February 23, 2011, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For additional information please call Donnie Copeland, Assistant Professor of Art and gallery director, at 870 245-5559.
