OBU women’s soccer rolls past Central Baptist

The Ouachita Baptist University women’s soccer team concluded its home portion of the schedule Tuesday afternoon with a 6-1 victory over Central Baptist during Senior Day at the OBU Soccer Complex.

The Lady Tigers (2-7) broke the scoreless tie in the 8th minute as Lyndsay Romano scored on a penalty kick. Lauren Pierce added to the margin in the 14th minute off assists by Beth Wendle and Laura Cox.

Beccah Elrod cut the Lady Tigers’ deficit to 2-1 with a goal in the 23rd minute.

Ouachita ended the first half with a pair of goals as Pierce added her second in the 30th minute off an assist by Amanda Baxter. Allison Cornell picked her first goal of the season off an assist by Pierce as time expired to give the Lady Tigers a 4-1 advantage at the half.

Laura Cox gave Ouachita a 5-1 lead in the 54th minute and Miranda Lytle ended the scoring with a goal off assists by Baxter and Pierce in the 74th minute.

Sarah Glenn had two saves in goal for Ouachita, while Sara Goodwin finished with seven saves, while Lauren George had two for Central Baptist (3-12-3).

Ouachita concludes the season 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 31 at Harding in a Gulf South Conference match.
