OBU women’s basketball routs Rhema

The Ouachita Baptist University women’s basketball geared up for Gulf South Conference West Division play Tuesday afternoon by routing Rhema, 80-42, at Bill Vining Arena.

Beulah Osueke paced Ouachita with 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting, while Alyssa Pickett finished with 12 points as the Lady Tigers were 33-of-71 (46.5 percent) from the floor.

Ouachita (10-2) opened the game with a 17-4 lead after a layup by Angela Colliver with 14:01 remaining in the first half.

Rhema (0-12) cut the deficit to 27-15 after a jumper by Nancy Gonzalez with 9:25 left, but Ouachita put the game out of reach by using a 26-2 run to close out the first half.

Kayna Daniel led the Lady Eagles with 12 points and Gonzalez added 11 as Rhema was 16-of-57 (28.1 percent) shooting.

The Lady Tigers hit the road to open Gulf South Conference West Division play as Ouachita will meet Delta State 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 10 at Sillers Coliseum. The game can be heard on the Ouachita Baptist Athletic Web site at: www.obutigers .com
