OBU volleyball falls to Southwest Baptist

The Ouachita Baptist volleyball team fell to Southwest Baptist, 3-0, Saturday to conclude action at the Harding Volleyball Tournament at the Rhodes Field House.

The Bearcats raced out to a 10-6 lead after a kill by Ashley Jurgenmeyer and didn’t look back in taking the opening game, 25-16. In the second game, Ouachita Baptist kept things close, cutting a deficit to 15-14 after a service error. However, Southwest Baptist grabbed a 2-0 advantage with a 25-19 win. The Bearcats won the match with a 25-20 victory in the third game.

Libby Merritt paced the Ouachita Baptist offensive attack with 14 kills. Lexie Hegi had 26 assists and 13 digs for a double-double. Raichel Settle added 10 digs.

Ouachita Baptist returns to action 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 19 for the first time this season at home against Gulf South Conference East Division foe North Alabama.
