Clear your calendars, it’s time to zip

September 12, 2016

Join Student Life on Friday, Sept. 16 as they travel to Hot Springs for the best zip lining experience you will ever have, guaranteed. Those signed up will head over to Catherine’s Landing, where they will take on the zip lines, courtesy of Adventureworks Hot Springs, and experience the wildlife and greenery their 400-acres have to offer. Whether you are an adrenaline junky or just a casual fan of sliding down steel cables at a brisk speed, this trip is for you.

Student Life works with the goal of connecting and growing Ouachita students through different events on campus. Stacey Perry, assistant director of Student Life, plays a key role in making these events happen.

“Student Life is wanting to try some new events throughout the year to involve
and engage a wide variety of students,” Perry said “This will be a fun event to meet new
people and for some it will be a chance to gain a new experience!”

Cost of zip lining is $25, with Student Life covering half the price of entry in order to make the trip more affordable for students.

In fact, Student Life is paying for more than half the cost. Adventureworks Hot Springs has a regular charge of $64 per person. Therefore, students can have 100 percent of the fun at about 40 percent of the price through Student Life.

To sign up, students should first visit the business office in Cone Bottoms to pay and receive their receipt, after which they must turn in their receipt to the Student Development office.

Students will meet at Dr. Jacks in Evans Student Center at 1:45 p.m. the day of the trip. The vans
will leave for Hot Springs at 2 p.m. After zip lining, every one will eat dinner in Hot
Springs. Be sure to bring extra money.

If you are extremely determined to attend this event, act quickly. The spots are limited, so make
sure you sign up as soon as possible. Nobody needs to skip out on this opportunity. It’s time to get out of the dorm room and enjoy the Natural State’s beauty at Catherine’s Landing.

Students can also look forward to future events hosted by Student Life throughout the semester and join in on the fun.
