Pruet school to host Seminary Day Nov. 6

October 29, 2015

Seminary Day, an annual event at Ouachita, will be held on the main floor of the Evans Student Center on Friday, Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Although the event is specifically tailored towards Christian studies majors, the event is open to all majors and classifications.

Seminary Day is a drop-in event. There is no appointment needed and students can talk to representatives from the different seminaries any time between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Any student will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from several different seminaries and ministries for each school.

“It’s important to us that our students make informed decisions about continuing their education,” said Tracey Knight, administrative assistant in the Christian studies department and coordinator for Seminary Day.

Along with speaking about admission for the schools, counselors will discuss things such as financial advice, admission requirements and other important steps to getting into their specific seminary.

“I like seminary day because it gives students the opportunity to find a place where they can see themselves going after Ouachita,“ said Caroline Poole, a junior mass communications and Christian studies double major. “Finding a seminary or graduate school can be an intimidating process and Ouachita helping in that process is a great thing.”

The Pruet school of Christian studies will host representatives from different seminaries from across the country. Students are encouraged to talk to representatives from multiple seminaries to get the most out of the event.

Representatives from the following schools are scheduled to participate: B.H. Carroll Theological Institute in Arlington, Texas; Beeson Divinity School (Samford University) in Birmingham, Ala.; Criswell College in Dallas, Texas; Gary Cook Graduate School of Leadership (Dallas Baptist University) in Dallas, Texas; Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas; Denver Seminary in Denver, Colo.; Fuller Theological Seminary in Houston, Texas; Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, Calif.; John Brown University Graduate School in Little Rock, Ark.; Logsdon School of Theology (Hardin-Simmons University) in Abilene, Texas; Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Germantown, Tenn.; Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Mo.; New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, La.; North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago, Ill.; Palm Beach Atlantic University in Palm Beach, Fla.; Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C.; Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.; Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas; Truett Theological Seminary (Baylor University) in Waco, Texas; and Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill.
