Students give blood, save lives

April 6, 2011

The Arkansas Blood Institute Blood Drive is April 5 and 6, and students are donating their time to save lives.

The average adult body has close to ten pints of blood. By donating one pint, each Ouachitonian has the potential to save up to three lives. The Arkansas Blood Institute has set up its operations in the Student Center Banquet Rooms, and students have been coming through the doors in a steady stream.

After filling out a questionnaire and going through the mandatory screening, each student who qualifies goes through the procedure. This usually takes seven to 10 minutes.

Once the blood has been drawn, students can enjoy refreshments and the great feeling that comes with knowing they helped save a life… or three.
