Tebow Needs to Leave, as Soon as Possible

February 16, 2013

Here is a question. Why should Tim Tebow leave the Jets?

Because it is common sense. Because he is not allowed to be himself on Ryan’s team. Because he needs an O-line coach who will let him play his game.

There are so many reasons, and I could keep going on and on about this, but first, there is a small detail I need to get out of the way.

Many of you know me, but those who don’t, do not judge me for being a Tim Tebow fan and the fact I am a girl (putting those two things together, of course).

Let us get some things straight up front. I am from Florida. Tebow is from Florida. I grew up quite close to where he grew up.

I have been following his career since he was a senior in high school. I have been a Gators fan my entire life.

I cried along with the quarterback great in the SEC title game against Alabama.

I bought his Gators jersey, Broncos jersey and refused to buy his Jets jersey because I knew he wouldn’t last there, and I plan on writing his next biography.

I knew who he was and was cheering for him before over half the American population even knew he existed, especially the female majority.

So I am allowed to say, with all confidence, that I have every right to call myself a real Tim Tebow fan.

That, unfortunately, is not the main topic of this article, but I do have to get that out of the way so that you can take what I am saying about Tebow seriously.

What are my predictions, or using a better word, hopes, for my favorite team leader?

Jacksonville Jaguars will pick him up after he realizes that the Jets is not where he needs to be. I hope he realizes that. I hope he redeems himself when he finds himself taking Chad Henne’s position, or at least Blaine Gabbert’s.

I hope he improves his mechanics, because that will make him a force to be reckoned with on the field if he has the offense to back him up, and if he has the coaches to support him and his unconventional style of play.

Rex Ryan is not the influence Tebow needs in his life. Tebow needs to be in his hometown, playing for the team he wanted to go to in the first place, being close to his family and friends, who actually are a good influence.

Playing for the Jaguars would mean more playing time, and turning an entire program back around because there is absolutely nothing to lose with Jacksonville (yes, they are that bad).

Also, proving to the critics that he can play well and lead a team and have coaches who will let him do what he wants to do with the offense.

Now look at Redskins’ quarterback RGIII and tell me you cannot let a quarterback run what he wants and not win.

RGIII’s and Tebow’s style of play is a lot alike. They both like to run the spread, and run the ball.

Griffin’s choice of game plans got him some nice wins this past season, until his possible career-ending injury, of course, and that is proof enough that if you allow a quarterback to have free range, he’ll give you wins, not safe, close losses.

Tebow needs a coach that will back him up, support him, treat him like the son he never had, and give him a chance to shine.

Rex Ryan, on the other hand, needs to realize a big mouth doesn’t get you anywhere in life except to the hospital with a broken jaw.

  1. Great story. I enjoyed it. I agree he needs a coach who supports him; much like Rex Ryan supported Sanchez
last season- no matter how bad Mark played, Ryan kept him in there. Of course, Tim would have played much better than Sanchez.
I am a Christian, and pray for Tim everyday that God will grant him the desires of his heart. God will do that because He promises to. Tim works so hard, it just seems that he should have gotten a fair shake in NY, but I don’t believe he did.

Good luck with the biography deal some day,
    Jennifer
