Tigers blow past HSU in BOTR 92-72

The Tigers shot 9-13 from three-point range and 19-30 from the field in the first half as Ouachita defeated Henderson State 92-72 at Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia, Ark.

Lakee Westbrook led all scorers in a perfect first-half shooting, finishing the half 6-6 from the field and 4-4 from three. He also made two free throws.

Justin McCleary recorded 11 points in the first half, going 4-9 from the field and nailing three 3-point shots. Tirrell Brown added nine points in the half along with five rebounds—three on the defensive end.

David Berete had limited time in the first half due to three personal fouls; however, recorded seven points and four rebounds.

The Tigers got five forced turnovers in the half, including three steals from Westbrook, Berete, and McCleary. Ouachita also recorded 20 rebounds with 15 coming off the defensive end, limiting second chance opportunities for the Reddies. The Tigers out-rebounded the Reddies 20-8.

The Reddies shot 10-25 from the field in the first half, shooting 40% from the field. They also made 2-6 three-point shots in the first half for a 33.3% shooting percentage from beyond the arc.

Ouachita outscored Henderson State 16-8 in the paint; however, the Reddies did get more offensive production out of their bench players, recording 17 points compared to the Tigers’ eight points.

The Tigers cooled down slightly in the second half, shooting a still impressive 56.2% from the field going 13-23. The Tigers also recorded a 4-9 shooting record from beyond the arc.

Westbrook finished with 26 points, missing just two shots all game, with a 7-8 field goal record, a 5-6 three-point shooting record and a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line.

The Tigers recorded 36 total rebounds, 27 of which came on the offensive end. The Tigers outrebounded the Reddies 36-20 on the night.

The Reddies scored 18 points in the paint and 37 off the bench. The Tigers finished with 34 points in the paint and 22 off the bench.
