It’s that time of year: Tiger Tunes season. With the beginning of Tunes also comes Homecoming. The Tigers took on Southern Nazarene University for the Homecoming game, winning 49-14. This is Ouachita’s eighth consecutive homecoming win and the first home win of the season. With the overlapping events, it’s a great time to be on campus, with so much excitement and fun for alumni coming back and family coming down, maybe for the first time.

The Homecoming game had a packed home crowd. The team got out to an early jump with the first play for the Tigers’ offense; Tre Nichols connected to Eli Holmes-Holt, resulting in a long receiving touchdown. The Tigers wouldn’t let off the gas until the fourth quarter. The defense was also playing great, with two interceptions from KJ Colen and Jackson Edwards. Colen’s interception was returned to the goal line, which was then fumbled and was recovered by Kahlil Smith for a touchdown.
Hutch Grace led the Tigers on defense with 10 tackles. Justin Crutchmer had one and a half sacks and two pass breakups. Smith finished with seven tackles, a half sack and one pass breakup to go along with his defensive touchdown. Nichols had four touchdowns and 294 yards of offense. Chris Henley, Jr. had two touchdowns on just three carries. The Tigers would coast to the end, with backs coming in more in the second half.

This is a great time on campus with football season in full swing and Tunes wrapping up. The Tigers will face Arkansas-Monticello on Saturday, October 17. This is the 85th meeting between the two, with Ouachita leading. Since joining the Great American Conference in 2011, Ouachita is 13-1 against UAM.
