Ouachita Takes Second, Fourth in Business Plan Competition

February 7, 2012

Two Ouachita teams were among the winners of the second annual OBU/HSU Business Plan Competition at Arkadelphia City Hall yesterday.

Britta Stamps, a senior business management, marketing and political science major, and Tanner Ward, a junior business management, finance and mass communications major, won second place for their work on TheSpot, a youth sports center in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Chris Brune, assistant professor of finance, was their faculty advisor.

Nate Peace, a senior mass communications, Christian studies and Biblical languages major, won fourth place for his work on iNews.com, a social media news website. Brune, along with Tiffany Eurich, instructor of communications, were his faculty advisors.

Stamps and Ward were awarded $3,000, and Peace was awarded $1,000.

“It’s been a long journey as the plan has evolved over the past seven months, but I am really proud of our accomplishment and excited to see the next step of the process,” Stamps said.

Both teams will enter their plans in the Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup, the statewide business plan competition in April.
