Jillian Turner to present sophomore recital at Ouachita April 12

Ouachita Baptist University Division of Music will host Jillian Turner in her sophomore voice recital April 12. The recital, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 11 a.m. in Mabee Fine Art Center’s McBeth Recital Hall.

Turner, a sophomore vocal performance and piano double major from Fort Worth, Texas, will open her recital with “Alleluja” from ExsultateJubilate by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, followed by “Ideale” by Carmelo Errico, “Notre amour” by Gabriel Fauré and “Kommt ein schlanker Bursch gegangen” from Der Freischütz by Carl Maria von Weber. Turner will conclude with “Poor Wandering One” from Pirates of Penzance by W. S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan. She will be accompanied by Phyllis Walker on the piano.

Turner has earned second place finishes in the regional National Association of Teachers of Singing auditions as well as Ouachita’s Virginia Queen Piano Competition. She also has performed with Ouachita’s opera theatre in Hansel and Gretel as the Sandman.
