Ouachita Jazz Band to perform spring concert on April 26

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—The Ouachita Baptist University Jazz Band, under the direction of Dr. Craig Hamilton, OBU’s Lena Goodwin Trimble Professor of Music, director of bands and music education chair, will perform its annual spring concert on April 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Performing Arts Center on OBU’s Arkadelphia campus. There will also be a live webcast of the concert at www.obu.edu/band.

The program will feature a variety of styles and numerous soloists from the band as well as vocal soloist Grace Johnson, a senior vocal performance major from Tyler, Texas.

The concert will include the following selections: Sammy Nestico’s arrangement of “Strike Up the Band,” Mike Crotty’s arrangement of “Red Clay,” Bart Howard’s “Fly Me to the Moon,” Kris Berg’s arrangement of “Willow Weep for Me,” Larry Kerchner’s arrangement of “Birdland” and Mike Carubia’s arrangement of “Satin Doll.”

Also included will be: Mike Tomaro’s arrangement of “Blackbird,” “Sometimes You Have to Fly Away” by Les Aldrich, Dave Wolpe’s arrangement of “You’re Nobody ‘til Somebody Loves You,” “Just a Little Off the Top” by Jay Cattaway, “Sioux Falls Fusion” by Doug Beach, Mark Taylor’s arrangement of “Bewitched,” Rick Stitzel’s arrangement of “Pick Yourself Up” and “Dreamin’ Out Loud” by Bob Washnut.
