“Traveling is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.”

Living abroad and experiencing a vast amount and variety of many different cultures is something we all strive to do one day. However, as a college student, this dream would typically seem impossible if it weren’t for the many opportunities through study abroad programs. One of these programs at Ouachita is the opportunity to spend a semester studying abroad at Liverpool Hope University in Liverpool, England.

At the moment, Talor Tartaglia, junior psychology major from Fayetteville, Ark. and Natalie Bingaman, junior Christian studies and psychology double major from Fayetteville, Ark. are enrolled at this English university for the semester to not only receive course credit but to receive an experience of a lifetime.

“During our time abroad, we each are taking three classes which is nice since we have more time to enjoy this experience but we also have assessments to prepare for at the end of the semester which is pretty different than Ouachita,” Bingaman said.

Both girls in their free time, have enjoyed sightseeing around Liverpool and other English towns.

“Along with taking three classes at the university, we have also been able to experience the city and other places with historical sites like Cheshire,” Tartaglia said. “We also go to a church which has people attending from all over the world which is really cool and different.”

Even though it is only the beginning of the semester, both Bingaman and Tartaglia are both hoping to also get immersed in the European cultures of nearby cities and countries.

“In two weekends, we are planning to visit London which is a few hours away,” Tartaglia and Bingaman said. “We also have a three week period off in which we are able to travel, and we are planning to travel to Scotland, Ireland and Italy.”

Both Bingaman and Tartaglia are loving living in Liverpool, but they both still have a place in their heart for the little Natural State.

“I definitely miss my family and friends but I also really miss Mexican food,” Bingaman said.

“I would have to say I also miss Mexican food and my family but I also really miss the Ouachita community and all of the people back home,” Tartaglia said.

So even while living abroad, God has a great way of reminding His children of all His blessings, whether it is in Liverpool, England or in Arkadelphia, Ark., He is always there and providing provision for us.
